Automatic Translation Solutions

Task

Task

Automatic translation or machine translation, sometimes referred to by the acronym MT, is a sub-field of computational linguistics that investigates the use of computer software to translate text or speech from one natural language to another. (From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.)

Whether we like it or not, the world is gradually becoming a global village. While fully automatic translation software still has a long way to go to reach the quality comparable to that of human translation, it has been widely recognized as a workable solution. However, two important aspects need to be considered in order to implement it successfully:

  • The result is not supposed to be perfect; it is merely a gist. The grammar should not be relied upon, and the rest should be used only to understand the general idea.
  • Machine translation, just like any other software, can be fine-tuned for better operation under certain assumptions.

Solution

Task

Our translation components "shred" content in the source language into a list of numbers, each corresponding to a particular concept behind a word or an idiom, and then generate the result in the target language. The user is given an indication about the relative difficulty of the text. The components can be used in two modes:

  1. Enhancement for 3rd party translation software
  2. As translation software (especially for the minority languages) by itself *

* Multilingual dictionaries are yet to be released in the upcoming months. However, it is possible to add any language, with or without our help.

Sample customer scenarios

Scenario 1:
boosting translation quality

Translation quality

Situation: A multinational corporation uses 3rd party translation software to translate texts on a broad range of subjects. They are not satisfied with the translation quality.

Solution: Carabao DeepAnalyzer determines the domain of discourse per sentence and the customer's script applies necessary parameters when sending the input to the translation software. The quality is boosted.

Scenario 2:
translation workflow

Translation workflow

Situation: An offshore outsourcing corporation wants to make a distinction between documents that can be easily translated by a machine translation package to those that require human translation.

Solution: Carabao Machine Readability Indicator is used to assess the reliability of correct processing for a particular text. If the readability index goes below a certain threshold, the document is sent to a human translator.

Conclusion

Our products are built on a powerful generic basis. The possibilities are numerous, and if you are not sure if our software can handle it, or want to evaluate the costs involved, please feel free to request a free evaluation without any obligations.
